The Miami Carnival returns to the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition grounds to celebrate the rich traditions of Caribbean communities. Each year, the festival transforms Miami into a vibrant space of color, rhythm and movement, where elaborate costumes, pulsating soca beats, and the unmistakable sounds of calypso fill the streets with energy and pride.
“It’s really the foundation, or the establishment of the Caribbean community – once you get to a carnival, it means that there’s togetherness,” said Sizwe Jason Collins, a soca performer for the event.
The carnival aims to give communities a platform for cultural expression and regional unity. Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Joan Hinkson emphasized the carnival’s role in uniting communities and preserving Caribbean identity in South Florida.
“What Miami has been able to do to bring this type of cultural dynamic has been top tier,” Hickson said. “When people come out to the Miami Carnival, they get to enjoy the Sunshine State.”
The carnival day parade and concert will take place on Oct. 12. Click here to find more details!
