Miami-Dade Animal Services waives adoption fees to ease overcrowding (includes video story)

Miami-Dade Animal Services faces an urgent capacity crisis. More than 500 dogs await homes. To help ease the overcrowding, the shelter is partnering with the Best Friends Animal Society, to waive adoption fees for all dogs over 40 pounds through Sept. 30.

All adopted dog are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters receive a coupon book with $300 in discounts and services. The goal is to encourage community members to give pets a new beginning. This allows room for more animals in need.

“Saving the lives of dogs and cats at MDAS is the responsibility of everyone in the community,” said Scott Giacoppo, director of National Shelter Support. “We urge the community to adopt or foster because these amazing dogs belong in homes and not in a shelter.”
