Inter Miami announced Wednesday that it had reached a deal with its first jersey sponsor. “Tonight we’re proud to announce our first jersey partner with XBTO. This is the first crypto-finance deal in major league soccer,” said Inter Miami owner, Jorge Mas.
XBTO is a global crypto-finance enterprise specialized in market-making. Players like Kieran Gibbs have been interested in crypto for a long time and are fond of the deal. “It’s great to have pioneers like XBTO with the club, and try to bridge the gap between technology and sports,” said Gibbs.
Players aren’t the only ones looking forward to this new chapter for the team. Fans of Inter Miami nicknamed “La Familia” are all in on XBTO. “As you can see from tonight, the community is behind them. La Familia is behind them,” said season ticket holder Eric Corey. “I love having an owner who doesn’t mind being the first one through the wall. And you know what? We’ll help them break it down too.” The club will be debuting these jerseys in their match against the New York Red Bulls on Friday.
