Miami Film Festival connects people over the city (includes video story)

The 2026 Miami Film Festival brought filmmakers, actors and people together at the Olympia Theater, where a world premiere highlighted Miami’s connection to film.

“Eva y Adán en Miami” a romantic comedy set was filmed in the city, following two strangers who form a connection while exploring the city as their jealous exes chase them.

On the red carpet, director Lilo Vilaplana and the cast appeared ahead of the screening, giving audiences a first look at the film before it hit the big screen.

The festival also spotlighted films like “Honeyjoon”, which explored grief, family and connection through a mother-daughter story set in Azores, Portugal.

Actor Bárbara Cuesta said she hopes audiences connect with the same sense of discovery the cast experienced while making the film.

“I want the audience to see what our characters are seeing, the discovery of people, the city and the opportunities that come with a trip like coming to Miami,” Cuesta said.
