Hot pink and aquamarine will color the streets of Miami Beach this weekend for the 40th anniversary of “Miami Vice,” the 1980s police drama that put the Magic City on the map and popularized its iconic nightlife.
This weekend only, fans will be able to tour the show’s Ocean Drive filming locations, meet their favorite cops and criminals, and watch screenings. For those who want to dine with show favorites like Olivia Brown or Edward James Olmos, a three-course meal with cast members at A Fish Called Avalon will run you $185.
Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner also announced a citywide proclamation, officially declaring September 12 as “Miami Vice Day.”
“We are now known as the hottest location, literally,” said Meiner. “That wouldn’t have been possible without the help from this show four decades ago.”
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s deputy director Christopher Carothers also emphasized that the series made cops look “cool,” saying, “This show is what really brought up our numbers back then for the team.”
Ticket prices vary by event and can be found at Miami Vice Events.
