This past Wednesday, the annual convention of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) took place in Chicago. The event brought together hundreds of bilingual Latino students and media professionals from across the United States with the goal of strengthening their presence in the media industry.

With over 3,500 members and more than 50 chapters nationwide, NAHJ promotes the professional development of Hispanic journalists through workshops, mentorship programs and job fairs. The convention addressed key topics such as politics, sports, writing and technology.

“This is a moment to learn as much as possible and connect with fellow Latino journalists,” said Fabianna Rincón, a reporter for “El Tiempo Latino.”

One of the standout panels was Telemundo Deportes’ “El Pelotazo,” which showcased how technology is transforming TV production through the use of green screens and virtual environments.

“Everyone here is trying to make a difference by reporting on communities that sometimes go unheard,” said Daniela Cazares, a producer from WBIR.
