NASCAR is back for its annual race at the Homestead Miami Speedway. The cup series will be held Oct. 26 and 27. To kick things off, the speedway hosted the NASCAR Racing Experience.
Attendees were able to drive and ride in NASCAR stock cars for timed racing sessions after a training and instruction meeting.
The speedway opened in 1995 to help rejuvenate Homestead, which was damaged several years before by Hurricane Andrew. It is active for more than 280 days per year and features a 1.5 mile oval, was well as a 2.21 mile road course.
“Homestead is not that far from the rest of Miami,” said track President Guillermo Santa Cruz. “It’s a wonderful spot for motorsports. If you have never been to a NASCAR race give us a chance. It’s worth a drive.”
