New body cam footage of Gabby Petito is released (includes video story)

New body camera footage has been released in the disappearance of 22-year-old Gabby Petito. After more than a month, new questions are raised about her relationship with her fiance Brian Laundrie, who returned alone to their home in a van they shared.

On August 12, officers in Moab City, Utah, were called to a disorderly conduct situation. According to the police report, officers found the couple “engaged in some sort of altercation.” One of the officers concluded the situation was a result of a mental health crisis. No charges were filed.

“Yes, they had a disturbance. Yes, it was captured on body camera, their interactions with law enforcement,” said North Port, Florida Police Chief Todd Garrison. “But beyond that, I don’t know what it has to do with the disappearance.”

Authorities say they’ve spoken to Laundries’ lawyers, but he refuses to assist in the investigation. In a statement released on Tuesday, his attorneys said: “On the advice of counsel, the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comments.”
