In January 2023, North Miami and the Florida Department of Transportation developed the “Five Point Plaza Project” to ease traffic at the busy intersection of Northeast Sixth Avenue, West Dixie Highway and 125th Street.
Now, drivers must use NE 6th Ave to head south onto 125th Street, a detour that has become a point of contention among residents.
While some approve of the change, others in the community disagree.
“It causes a lot of road rage,” said Veronica Luca, a North Miami resident.
Carlton Green finds the new street change confusing. “I think it was better the way it was before,” he said.
