The New York City Ballet stars in “Pari Dukovic En Pointe – Dance and Fashion” at Visu Contemporary (includes video story)

“Pari Dukovic: En Pointe – Dance and Fashion,” is on view at Visu Contemporary until November 17 and features 25 photographs by Turkey-born, New York photographer Pari Dukovic. Located in Miami Beach, the fine art gallery highlights established and emerging artists and their larger-than-life photography.

Dukovic, who’s currently a staff photographer for the New Yorker, grew up in Istanbul and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2006. He began taking photos on the street as a child. His work has been collected by The Smithsonian Institution and he photographed the cover of Barack Obama’s memoir. He’s also shot stars the likes of Gayle King, Taylor Swift and Nancy Pelosi.

“Like any journey it starts with the first step,” said Dukovic. “It all started when my father gifted me my first camera.”

The never-before-seen photos include a decade of nearly 30 high-fashion designers’ costumes created for the New York City Ballet’s (NYCB) annual Fall Fashion Gala, which was originally conceived by Sarah Jessica Parker in 2012.

Dukovic shot the couture designs on 11 of the ballet’s renowned dancers for the Rizzoli book “New York City Ballet: Choreography and Couture” in just six days. The exhibition will also feature an exclusive outtake from the book.

“Life is all about art,” Ray Breslin, president of the Park Neighborhood Association, told Caplin News. “Any chance I get to come to events that are supported by the neighborhood and cultural institutions, I’m there.”

The gallery is similar to a maze, displaying artwork that can be viewed from any angle. Whether you’re looking for a fun family outing or romantic date, this exhibition is sure to make you see and feel these larger-than-life photographs.

Visu Contemporary is located at 2160 Park Ave, Miami Beach. It is open Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5:30 p.m.
