OtakuFest returned to the Miami Airport Convention Center this past weekend and drew a large crowd of anime lovers, cosplayers, gamers and pop culture enthusiasts. For many, the event meant more than entertainment. Attendees reconnected with friends, shared their passions and stepped away from their daily routines.
“Everybody can get together and have a good time, kind of like an escape from reality,” says Isabel, one of the attendees. “It is kind of like a dream world.”
For cosplayers, the event provided a platform for favorite characters, handmade costumes to stories and talk about why certain characters hold meaning for them.
“There are vendors that come to the convention that I know from previous conventions, and it’s really nice to see everyone,” said Isabel.
