Panther Motorsports is a student-run team at Florida International University that gives engineering students the chance to apply what they learn in class to a real project. Every year, the team designs, builds and races a Formula-style car as part of the Formula SAE competition. It’s a hands-on experience that pushes students to think creatively and work together.
“A lot of our alumni have gone out to work for many monumental companies such as Chevron and Tesla,” said Ashley Francis, the secretary of Panther Motorsports.
The team is made up of five subsystems: A.C.E., Vehicle Dynamics, Propulsion, Business, and Marketing & Outreach. Each group focuses on a specific part of the project, but they all work closely together to make sure everything runs smoothly.
“We are really like a second family here,” said Francis.
The team competes against other universities across the country, putting its hard work to the test and gaining valuable experience along the way.
The best part? You don’t need any experience to join. Panther Motorsports is open to anyone who’s passionate and ready to learn.
