On Wednesday night, President Joe Biden gave perhaps the most important speech in his political career from the Oval Office. He talked about his decision to step away from the 2024 presidential race, saying it’s time to “pass the torch” to the younger generation.
“It’s not about me,” said Biden. “It’s about you. Your families. Your futures.”
Biden also stated he would prioritize several things in the remaining six months of his presidency: lowering costs for working families, protecting the planet from climate change and defending personal freedoms.
Meanwhile, soon-to-be Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris has started her presidential bid. She has less than four weeks to pick her vice-presidential nominee before the Democratic National Convention on Aug. 19.
