President Donald Trump is increasing pressure on Iran this morning as negotiations continue over ending the war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The president warned in a social media post that “the clock is ticking” for Iran to reach a deal with the United States before tensions grow even worse.
The warning follows a weekend meeting between Trump and members of his national security team to discuss the next steps in the conflict, with another meeting expected early this week as both sides continue going back and forth over possible terms to end the war.
Iran’s foreign ministry said it responded to U.S. criticism of its earlier proposal, while CNN foreign policy analyst Barak Ravid said the updated response could decide whether diplomatic talks continue moving forward or fall apart completely.
Republican Congressman Don Bacon said any agreement must keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, as Iranian citizen Fatima said many people in the country believe more fighting is unavoidable if negotiations fail.
