The Savannah Bananas, who are redefining baseball with their high-energy, fast-paced “Banana Ball,” came to Miami this weekend, playing two games at LoanDepot Park.
On Saturday and Sunday, they sold out more than 72,000 seats each day, something the Miami Marlins have rarely done since the stadium opened.
The two-hour games featured breakdancing umpires, lip-syncing batters and a set of rules that make the sport tons of fun for die-hard baseball fans or newcomers.
Owner Jesse Cole, known for his yellow tuxedo, proudly reflected on the team’s journey, stating, “A few years ago, ESPN called it the greatest show in sports. We try to be the fastest, most entertaining game out there.”
The Bananas’ fascinating approach has not only redeveloped interest in baseball but also created a community of three million fans who love the unexpected. As the team continues to tour, their mission remains clear: to break the mold of traditional sports and deliver an experience that’s as unforgettable as it is fun.
