Secretary of Defense addresses legacy as President-elect Trump chooses Secretary of State (includes video story)

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin addressed his legacy in Doral on Thursday during a transition of leadership ceremony. He described what the transfer of defense will look like.

“We will be focused on making a smooth, calm, professional transition, so that the department can continue on with this really important work that we’ve been doing here over the last four years,” said Austin.

This comes as all eyes are on South Florida for the incoming cabinet of Secretary of State. According to reports, President-elect Trump might choose Senator Marco Rubio for the position. Rubio says he has not heard back.

“I haven’t had any such conversations with anybody in the Trump administration,” Rubio said. “I plan to work with them, whether it’s in the Senate, which is an important place to be, or in some other capacity if those conversations happen.”
