Sideline Episode 2

In this edition of the Caplin News’s new sports show, Sideline, our analysts take you through what they call “The South Florida Struggle.” This past Saturday, four South Florida teams all played on the same day, and only one found a win. 

Sideline’s NHL specialist, Tania Jimenez, looks at what went wrong with the Cats against the Winnipeg Jets. 

Carlton Gillespie takes you through a day of Pool D of the World Baseball Classic. 

With March Madness coming up, Kenneth Bueno and Anthony Blanco share their predictions for the men’s college basketball post-season. 

And finally, the Miami Dolphins made big plays just at the cusp of free agency. Anthony Blanco shares what that could mean for the Phins in the upcoming season.

Esteban Rodriguez is a sophomore majoring in TV/Broadcast media. He is a producer for Caplin News and FIU's Sports show, Sideline. He hopes to pursue this path of producing for Sports Networks and/or Hollywood in the Film Industry.

 

Kenneth Bueno is a junior majoring in the Digital Broadcasting field. He is a sim racing commentator for Podium eSports and aims to apply his love for sports into the sports broadcasting industry after graduating.

Moises Pinell is a student at FIU majoring in communications with a track in Digital Media. He enjoys editing videos related to sports and business. He aspires to work for a television network, the Miami Heat, or in the film industry.

Alfredo Banegas is a junior at Florida International University majoring in digital journalism hoping to combine his passion of sports and writing to become a sports writer. Alfredo looks to make positive changes in the way sports are covered in today’s media landscape.

Anthony Blanco is a senior majoring in Digital Journalism with hopes of pursuing a career in sports journalism. Anthony is passionate about covering sports and hopes to one day make his passion his profession.

Carlton is a Digital Broadcasting student and intends to pursue a career in journalism. Born and raised in Broward County, he hopes to combine his passion for this community and storytelling to deliver news, insights, and perspectives to the people of South Florida.

Tania Jimenez is a senior majoring in communication with a concentration in digital broadcasting. She is interested in sports. After graduation, she would like to continue her career journey in the world of sports media.

Lauren Wurts is a Latina Junior at FIU majoring in Journalism/ Communications. She hopes to work as a news reporter and work her way up to Producing. She is bilingual and enjoys covering entertainment, sports and activism stories.
