Sideline, Episode 4

Sideline is back this week and South Florida professional teams are drifting away from playoff territory.

However, in men’s NCAA basketball, the University of Miami and Florida Atlantic University reach the final four and have a chance at an all-Florida school Championship Game.

NHL Specialist Tania Jimenez gives us her take on what the Florida Panthers are doing — or rather not doing — to slip into the final slot of the wildcard for the Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket for the Eastern Division

The Miami Open is occurring and Sideline’s Carlton Gillespie has a recap on what’s been going on in the Global tennis tournament and what to expect as it progresses.

With the Heat tiptoeing around playoff territory, the Heat panel provides its takes on what the team should as the regular season ends.

Esteban Rodriguez is a sophomore majoring in TV/Broadcast media. He is a producer for Caplin News and FIU's Sports show, Sideline. He hopes to pursue this path of producing for Sports Networks and/or Hollywood in the Film Industry.

 

Producer

Moises Pinell is a student at FIU majoring in communications with a track in Digital Media. He enjoys editing videos related to sports and business. He aspires to work for a television network, the Miami Heat, or in the film industry.

Ethan Toth is a senior, studying Digital Communication and Media at FIU since 2020. As an aspiring writer and producer, he has worked on multiple podcasts, film and video shoots and radio productions. Ethan looks forward to working professionally in whatever creative field he can land in first.

Anthony Blanco is a senior majoring in Digital Journalism with hopes of pursuing a career in sports journalism. Anthony is passionate about covering sports and hopes to one day make his passion his profession.

Alfredo Banegas is a junior at Florida International University majoring in digital journalism hoping to combine his passion of sports and writing to become a sports writer. Alfredo looks to make positive changes in the way sports are covered in today’s media landscape.

Tania Jimenez is a senior majoring in communication with a concentration in digital broadcasting. She is interested in sports. After graduation, she would like to continue her career journey in the world of sports media.

Carlton is a Digital Broadcasting student and intends to pursue a career in journalism. Born and raised in Broward County, he hopes to combine his passion for this community and storytelling to deliver news, insights, and perspectives to the people of South Florida.

Zeth Leon is of Cuban descent. He is currently a Junior at FIU majoring in Digital Communications and Media with a concentration in digital broadcasting. After graduation, he plans to incorporate his love for sports into his work by becoming a play-by-play commentator or talk show host for a sports network.
