Sideline: Soflo teams sweep in wins, Miami 300 race, and local soccer events

South Florida teams are celebrating after every major sports team wins this past weekend. The Miami 300 is back, and Sideline has special coverage of the race. Two local soccer events, F.I.U. womens soccer team celebrates Senior Day and an organizer puts together a soccer tournament with a spooky twist for Halloween.

Esteban Rodriguez is a Senior majoring in TV/Broadcast media. He is a producer for Caplin News and creator for FIU's Sports show, Sideline. He hopes to pursue this path of producing for sports or general news.

 

Nicolette Esper is a fourth-year, first-generation college student studying digital broadcasting with a focus on sports journalism. With a passion for sports, Nicolette aspires to work in the sports media field with hopes of becoming a sports broadcaster.

Laura Iglesias is a sophomore majoring in TV & Broadcasting. After graduating, she dreams of pursuing a career in television to inform communities.

Dylan Pezet is a student at Florida International University studying Digital Communications and Broadcast Media. He joined Caplin News in the Spring of 2024 in hopes of improving his TV-production craft so that after graduation he may be able to get a job with the NHRA as a track reporter/announcer.

Marcus Cleophat is studying digital media in the broadcasting track. His goal is to be a play-by-play commentator for track and field.

Valeria De Souza is a sophomore at Florida International University, majoring in Digital Communication and Media, with a focus on digital TV and multimedia production. She is passionate about storytelling and hopes to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, working at a news station to help share impactful stories within the community.

Sarah Mayorca is a Digital Communications and Media major with a love for storytelling in both English and Spanish. Growing up in South Florida’s vibrant cultural mix, she finds inspiration in covering stories that highlight community, creativity, and identity. Blending her background in dance with her interest in broadcasting, she hopes to build a career as a multimedia journalist, bringing powerful and authentic stories to the screen.
