Pingpong tournament returns to Cascabel Studios for fifth edition (includes video story)

The Snake Tournament of Pingpong returned Saturday to Cascabel Studios in Doral, marking the event’s fifth edition. What started as a small, friendly competition has grown into one of the most anticipated local ping-pong events of the year.

Players filled the studio, showing off their custom-made tournament t-shirts while eyeing the handcrafted trophies awarded to the top finishers.

The tournament takes its name from both the iconic snake shot, a tricky side-spin move that sends the ball curving across the table, and its host venue, Cascabel Studios, which fittingly means “rattlesnake” in Spanish.

Pingpong may look easy from the sidelines, but it’s built on precision, lightning-fast reflexes and focus. Players delivered sharp serves, quick returns and powerful smashes that had the crowd cheering with every point.

For many competitors, this event has become a yearly tradition.

“This is my fifth time coming to the tournament to participate, and I hang out with friends as well,” said Eduardo Leguia.
“For those who have never played, it’s a great cardio workout.”
