SOBEWFF student workers prepare for the star-studded festival (includes video story)

The Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF) is just 68 days away. This four-day, star-studded event was founded over 20 years ago by entrepreneur Lee Schrager.

It’s a chance for students at FIU to gain hands-on experience.

All of the proceeds from the festival go to the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, supporting its mission to “Eat, Drink, and Educate.”

The festival is expected to attract over 65,000 guests this year, which is why FIU’s Chaplin School is enrolling student workers from any school now through February.

SOBEWFF has grown into a national event, with student workers at the heart of its success. Over 1,500 student workers are expected this year.

This experiential learning opportunity provides students with experiences in various event roles, from logistics to culinary positions.

FIU student Monique December will be a festival coordinator for her third year. “You gain the hands-on experience to network, and you’re basically there to have an amazing good time,” said December.

The 24th annual SOBEWFF will be held from February 20 to 23, 2025. The festival will feature more than 100 events across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Ticket prices range from $40 to $550 per person.
