Soirée des Arts brings sold-out cultural showcase to Miami (includes video story)

On Sunday, Sept. 21, the Manuel Artime Theater in Miami hosted a sold-out performance of “Soirée des Arts: In the Heart of Miami.” Presented by the Les Ailes du Désir (LADD) Foundation, this event celebrated the city’s rich cultural tapestry through a captivating variety of events including aerial acrobatics, contemporary dance, live music and original compositions. Creative director Milena Straczynski curated this event honoring Miami’s diverse cultural heritage with Afro-Caribbean elements, Latin American influences, Indigenous elements and more.

The theater buzzed with energy as attendees experienced the fusion of traditional and contemporary elements that defined the evening. Guided by host Teresa Cesario, the performance featured world-class artists, such as Marcela Duarte, who showcased the niche act of hair suspension. This was a beautiful and entrancing aerial act where the performer is suspended by her braided hair, showcasing spinning and performing acrobatic movements.

The event also provided a stage for new and emerging artists.

“In the Heart of Miami” was more than just a performance; it was also a tribute to the power of the arts in bridging cultures and fostering community.

There was even a room separate from the theater to additionally converse, have drinks at the bar, and meet the performers after the show. As the evening ended, audience members left the theater not only entertained but also inspired by the rich tapestry of stories, as well as performances that had unfolded before them.
