This past weekend, the U.S. Men’s National Team faced Venezuela in an international soccer game at Inter Miami’s Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. The stadium hosted more than 18,000 fans and united Florida’s most prominent cultures.

“We consider the Venezuelans as part of our culture here in Miami,” said U.S. fan Jonathan Fritz alongside his Venezuelan friend Mario De Michele.

Jack McGlynn opened the scoring for the U.S., who ended up winning 3-1. It signals a promising start for Coach Mauricio Pochettino.

“I think that tactically the U.S. was superior and I think that in the final third we were superior as well,“ said U.S fan Steven Manee.

Despite the loss, the Venezuelan side does not lose hope and looks forward to the South American qualifiers in March.

“We are going to keep working hard, giving it our all to qualify for the World Cup,” said Venezuelan player Erickson Gallardo. “I know we are going to make it.”

The U.S will have another international friendly on Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. against Costa Rica at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando.
