South Florida supermarkets empty as Milton evacuees stock up (includes video story)

Amid concerns of Hurricane Milton’s impact, many Central Florida residents flocked to South Florida for safety earlier this week. Several supermarkets were left empty before the storm made landfall due to the last-minute arrival and bulk purchases of both evacuees and locals.

“A list of supplies has been out of stock, like toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, the water in the aisles, the milk and the eggs,” said Publix employee Kendrick Figueroa.

Despite the overwhelming demand, grocery stores stocked enough inventory for the community to ride out the hurricane.
