Students travel for Thanksgiving to see family during pandemic (includes video story)

College students are traveling back home this Thanksgiving break amid the pandemic. For some, it will be the first time they see family since the start of COVID-19.

With additional restrictions enforced by the CDC, students are not backing down from a safe and fun holiday.

Florida State University student Mariana Calvo plans to take a COVID-19 test before coming back to family in Miami.

“I will make sure that I am not on many public places where there is no social distancing and making sure I take a COVID test prior to traveling,” Calvo said. “I am excited for my family to meet my dog and to spend time with them and to be with my loved ones since I haven’t seen them in a while.”

Although traveling this Thanksgiving holiday will not be the same for many, that is not stopping students from enjoying time with loved ones.
