Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month (includes video story)

Thousands of South Floridians gathered in Hialeah’s Amelia Earhart Park to honor those who have been affected by breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen More Than Pink walk raised money for breast cancer patients and life-saving research.

Pink has stood as a symbol of breast cancer awareness since 1992. Those with breast cancer also need treatment, emotional support and other resources, which is what the More Than Pink walk aims to provide.

“It is a community event,” says Gil Zepeda, Susan G. Komen’s development manager for South Florida. “It is an event that is used for support and love, and so it is something that is — just to us — more than a pink walk.”
