Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concluded on December 8 after nearly two years of unforgettable performances. From March 2023 to December 2024, Swift performed 149 shows across five continents, setting records and breaking barriers.
The tour featured 10 distinct acts, each highlighting a different era of her music, with surprise performances and special guests keeping fans engaged. The Eras Tour became the highest-grossing tour of all time, grossing over $2 billion and leaving a lasting impact on both the music industry and Swift’s devoted fanbase.
Beyond the numbers, the tour brought fans together, creating new traditions and a sense of joy.
Camille Garcia, an FIU alum and longtime Swiftie, details her experiences at the Tampa and Miami concerts she attended and the cultural impact the tour had.
Q: What was your overall experience at the Miami concert, and how did it compare to your expectations?
A: “My overall experience at the Miami concert was absolutely amazing. After attending the Tampa show last year, I knew I was in for a great time again but I wasn’t sure what to expect from having a seat on the stadium floor this time. I remember wondering if Taylor would look in my direction since I’d be seated so close, or if I’d still have a good view, but the experience far exceeded my expectations. Despite the constant rain, it was easy to forget about it and just enjoy the show. After all, Taylor always pulls off amazing performances, even in the rain.”
Q: Which era or album performance stood out the most to you during the show?
A: “The reputation set definitely stood out the most because it brought the most energy, both on stage and from the crowd. The music from that album really lends itself to a stadium tour with its bold visuals, powerful sound, lighting, pyrotechnics, and dance routines.”
Q: How did the stage design, visuals, and Taylor’s outfits enhance the concert experience for you?
A: “The stage design, visuals, and Taylor’s outfits made the concert feel like a full-on journey through her musical career. The stage itself was stunning, with massive screens that brought each song’s theme to life, from the whimsical vibes of folklore to the bold, colorful energy of 1989. Taylor’s outfits were a perfect match for each era, making every set change feel exciting and fresh. The visuals—like the fireworks during Cruel Summer or the sparkling gold for Enchanted—added an extra layer of magic, making the whole experience feel even more immersive and personal. It was like being transported into each world she created in her songs, making the concert unforgettable.”
Q: Was there a specific moment or song that gave you chills or felt especially memorable?
A: “There were definitely a few moments that felt especially memorable to me because of the personal connection I have with the songs. Her performance of marjorie, a song dedicated to her late grandmother, was one that really hit home for a lot of people who’ve lost a loved one. I remember having a hard time listening to it when my grandmother passed away in 2022, but now it’s a song that helps me remember her fondly. Taylor’s grandmother was an opera singer, and her vocals are sampled in the song. Hearing her operatic vocals at the end of marjorie fill the stadium gave me chills at both the Tampa and Miami shows. It felt like a moment of silence for her, and for all the loved ones we’ve lost and miss dearly. ‘
Q: How does Taylor’s live performance style on this tour compare to past shows you’ve seen?
A: “The Eras Tour was my first experience seeing Taylor perform. The energy was incredible and compared to what I have seen online over the years from her previous tours, she seemed even more confident and connected with her fans than ever before.”
Q: What do you think makes Taylor Swift’s music and concerts stand out from other artists?
A: “What makes Taylor Swift’s music and concerts stand out is how personal and immersive they feel. Her songs tell stories that resonate with so many people and she has this amazing ability to capture emotions and experiences we all relate to. Her songs have evolved with her and with her fans, which keeps them fresh and meaningful. She creates an atmosphere where everyone feels like they’re a part of something special. The attention to detail in her stage designs, visuals, and outfits also makes each performance feel like a unique experience. It’s clear she puts her whole heart into every show.”
Q: How has Taylor’s music impacted you personally, and how does it resonate with fans today?
A: “Taylor’s music has had a huge personal impact on me, especially as I’ve grown up with it. I started listening to her as a kid and over the years her songs have been able to capture the feelings I’ve experienced as a teenager and now as a young adult. Her ability to describe emotions in ways you’ve never heard before—but that somehow make perfect sense—has always amazed me. Whether it’s the angst of growing up, the excitement of new beginnings, or the heartache of lost connections, her lyrics have been a soundtrack to my own life. It’s like she has this unique way of putting into words what so many of us feel but can’t always express. I think that’s why her music resonates with so many fans today, especially those navigating the complex emotions of young adulthood. That ability of hers is what has made her music, and herself, so timeless.”
Q: Did you notice any unique elements of the Miami concert, like song choices or local references?
A: “Like I mentioned before, one of the things I love about Taylor as an artist is that she always finds a way to connect with her audience. She’s at a new height in her career where she can’t interact with fans the way she used to, or like some artists still can—stopping the show to read signs, walking through the crowd, or having back-and-forth interactions with fans. Despite this, she still found ways to connect with her Miami fans. For example, she performed her song Florida!!! with Florence Welch as a surprise guest. During the Red set, her dancer Cam is known for shouting the lyrics ‘like ever’ during the bridge of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. But this time, in typical Miami fashion, he shouted, ‘pero like, nunca!’ in Spanish. It made a lot of us laugh and it was so touching to know that Taylor and her team cared about making the show feel like there was a piece of us placed into the performance. Throughout the Eras Tour, she has done the same with using regional phrases or the native language of other countries.”
Q: What do you think Taylor’s influence is on the music industry and younger artists?
A: “Taylor Swift has had a huge impact on the music industry and younger artists, showing that it’s possible to evolve as an artist while staying true to yourself, encouraging others to experiment with their sound and be open about their personal experiences. Her songwriting, which is both relatable and deeply emotional, has set a new bar for how music can connect with listeners. On the business side, Taylor has been a leader in fighting for artists’ rights, inspiring others to take control of their work and make sure they’re treated fairly. Overall, she’s proven that success doesn’t mean sacrificing your creativity or independence.”
Q: What’s your fandom origin story? When did you first become a Swiftie?
A: “I first started liking Taylor’s music when I was in third grade. I think for many of us, we didn’t really register who all these artists were at a young age—we just enjoyed the music we heard. But I remember it finally clicking for me that all these songs I had been hearing and loving were hers. I recall times when I’d be in line to buy clothes with my mom at Justice, just standing there, entranced by her music videos playing on the store’s TV screen. It was always Love Story, You Belong with Me, The Story of Us, or Mine. I even remember seeing her Fearless and Speak Now CD’s at the register, but being too shy to ask for one. I became more of a “hardcore” Swiftie when I was a little older and experienced the release of Red and eventually 1989. I was definitely “that Taylor Swift girl” in middle school, which was an interesting time because she was both incredibly popular and, unfortunately, hated by many for silly reasons. It’s funny thinking back on how I proudly used my Taylor Swift themed Walmart notebooks. Looking at it now (pun intended), it’s amazing to see how far she has come. I don’t think many of us Swifties—or the world, even—could have imagined her success growing even bigger than the huge success she already had at the time. The release of folklore in 2020 sparked what I’d say is a renaissance—a reignited, widespread love for her music that attracted many new listeners. That revival has lasted four years and counting. Taylor Swift is truly a living legend.”
