Athletes are not letting a pandemic get in the way of winning a national championship, and the FIU Beach Volleyball team is no exception. The team is currently ranked 13th nationally and is in the CUSA conference.
They aspire to win the NCAA championships tournament in May and stay healthy throughout this process. The FIU athletics department has implemented new safety regulations to help the athletes achieve their goals.
Players must get tested twice a week and wear masks when they are not competing. Those who test positive must quarantine for 10 days with any teammates that reside with them. Guests are not allowed inside the courts and must watch from outside.

“If we mess up, it can knock out our entire season,” team member Madi Daum said. “If we have one positive case, we can all be contact-traced and then all of our hard work will be for nothing.”
