The Miami Film Festival will host its twelfth annual “GEMS” event at Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center in Little Havana tonight.

The festival created “GEMS” in 2015 as a fall event to showcase the “jewels” of the upcoming awards season.

Organizers of the event look forward to this year’s scheduled lineup and say that it’s nothing like it was before.

“It’s the year we’ve had the most talent in a while, like the most high-profile talent,” says Miami Film Festival Executive Director James Woolley. “And I think that’s really exciting.”

This year, they will start the event with their opening ceremony featuring a screening of “No Other Choice” and a Q&A with their special guest, Director Park Chan-wook. Other special events scheduled are a screening of the the Alicia Silverstone classic, “Clueless” and Q&A with the film’s costume designer, Mona May, and a career journey discussion with Ethan Hawke.

Their opening ceremony will host their reception at 6 p.m. and the movie screening at 8 p.m. The event will continue until Nov. 5 with many more premier films and discussion panels with guest appearances.
