La Placita is a Puerto Rican restaurant owned by famous telenovela actor Julian Gil and chef Jose Mendin. When customers walk in, a host makes them feel at home. There are many Puerto Rican-themed decorations and much music. A flag painted on the outside of the building is striking, but some neighbors have complained that it doesn’t belong in the area. There are also different spots to take pictures inside and outside. The environment is very cozy and the staff is nice and welcoming. They have a variety of authentic food and drinks. Meal prices vary from $12 to $25. Their bestselling plate is mofongo ($20), which is mashed plantain filled with your choice of meat or seafood. Drinks are affordable, starting with $2 beer and cocktails for $6. Lunch specials sell for $14.

Michael’s Genuine is owned by Michael Schwartz, a famous chef who won a James Beard Award . This restaurant is located in the Miami Design District, an area just north of midtown. It has indoor seating and outside tables that are cozier and casual. The décor is very earthy and there are plenty of plants. The staff is nice and welcoming. The location is very good since it is in an area full of tourists and businesses.. Lunch hours are usually the busiest ones at the restaurant. The wait for a table is usually not long but it is recommended to make a reservation. It has valet parking services in the front and two hosts at the entrance. Some of their signature meals are the MGFD pastrami sandwich, which includes gruyere, pickled cabbage and thousand island dressing ($24). There is also a seafood platter selection of oysters, shrimp and ceviche. Meal prices vary between $25 and $180.

Okami is a restaurant in the Miami Design District owned by famous Cuban actor and produvcer William Levy who is known for his participation in Hispanic telenovelas and roles in movies like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter The locale has unique and crystal decorations as well as indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor décor is “Boho,” a server told us, while the indoors is a more conventional bar that includes high tables. Reservations are not required and usually there is not a long wait. It was empty around lunchtime on the day we visited, but usually gets busier in the afternoon and on weekends. Okami is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from Friday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. They also offer brunch on Sundays, which is one of the busiest days. Their bestsellers are a sushi roll called furai maki, which has a crispy texture on the outside and salmon inside for $23 and arroz con mariscos it is a Japanese garlic rice with seafood, parmesan cheese, corn, and carrots for $41.

Swan is a stunning new restaurant by Pharrell Williams’ who is a rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. The décor will immediately take your breath away. Easy and soft lines and excellent paintings complement the space, while the outside area is an eco-friendly environment, with many bushes and trees that complement the nature of the place. This restaurant has valet parking. Brunch hours stretch from Monday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner hours are from 6 p.m. to midnight The price of this restaurant can vary depending on the food and drinks you order. The restaurant is designed with pastel colors and a very feminine touch. The music is soft and on weekends, they have a live DJ. The dress code is smart-casual attire. This restaurant works with reservations and a waiting list. Try the Creekstone Farms ribeye plate for $145 and for brunch, the French toast ( $15).

The restaurant is owned by reggaeton singer Nicky Jam, a very popular songwriter, actor and rapper. It is a very nice place full of photos of Nicky Jam holding delectable dishes. It also has incredible lights that showcase famous phrases from Nicky Jam on the walls like “Dimelo Papi” It is decorated with many glass lamps and bushes. The menu includes Puerto-Rican and Venezuelan food from tripletas to arepas. They also have a cafeteria and pastry shop in front of the restaurant where you can order desserts, smoothies, coffee and soft drinks. The hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Sunday. This restaurant only accepts walk-ins and the waiting time to be able to sit at a table can be two to three hours. The atmosphere of this place is very Latin and fun since it has reggaeton music at full volume and makes you feel at home and in Latin culture. The best-selling plate in this restaurant is Nicky Jam’s Favorite Pancakes, which are covered with dulce de leche and bananas for $19. There is also the huge and delicious arepa reina pepiada, which includes chicken, avocado and mayonnaise mix $15.
