Formerly known as Organic Food Kings, On The Run is a thriving vegan food truck.

“There is nothing that these vegan spots can do to compete,” said owner Alex Montanez. “With food, I don’t think there is anybody out there better than us.”

The truck uses seven types of mushrooms and home-made vegan meat, all soy- and gluten-free. Their Philly cheesesteak ($20.80) with seasoned fries is a favorite. And On The Run has attracted celebrities like Madonna and Drake, earning a featured article in Forbes.

La Cocinita opened its doors in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, quickly becoming a favorite for Miami’s vegan crowd.

With a blend of Latin American flavors and innovative plant-based dishes, the restaurant features popular items like the Mr. Mitrano Burger ($16.99), a take on the classic American burger, and The Cachapa ($13.95), a Venezuelan corn pancake with melted non-dairy cheese.

Chef Gian Luca Mitrano, the visionary behind La Cocinita, started the business with a food truck and a home-based meal service before expanding to its first location in Brickell. “For me, it’s easy to cook vegan food. It’s natural,” Mitrano says. His mission is to show people that vegan food can be flavorful, accessible, and achievable for everyone.

Since opening in Little River in 2015, Plantisserie has made a name for itself offering organic, plant-based meals with a commitment to high-quality ingredients.

The restaurant’s variety of empanadas, especially the caramelized onion and mushroom, are customer favorites, starting at $4.99 each, alongside their hearty Shepherd’s Pie, priced at $9.99.

Macarena Pescomcallos, a cashier/server, describes the Brussels sprouts as perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Plantisserie’s soy-, gluten-, GMO- and preservative-free offerings make it a go-to spot for wholesome, organic food, with plans to expand into the wholesale market.

Zen Mystery, an organic restaurant café and cultural center in Dania Beach, was founded by Lina Gonzalez and Denis Soukhanov in 2013. Originally created to help friends and family on their health journey, it now offers a peaceful retreat for those looking to nourish the mind, body and soul.

Over 80% of the customers aren’t vegan, but they’re drawn to the peaceful environment and healthier selections. Lina’s vegan crab cakes ($15-$17) are made with chickpeas, bell peppers, red onions, kelp powder and topped with cashew cream mayo. Zen Mystery has become a beloved spot for organic food, cultural events and a sense of community.

Plant Pizza is a popular 100% plant-based pizzeria that also serves calzones, pastas and salads.

Owned by Samuel Cobas, he also operates the neighboring Vegan Tierra. Customers rave about their homemade basil pesto, vegan ranch dressing, and the vegan flan dessert. One of the top picks is the 14″ Mediterranean Pizza ($19.80 with added sausage), featuring basil pesto, non-dairy mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts and mushrooms.

Kiret Ruiz, a cashier and kitchen assistant, says the vegan sausage tastes like real meat. With gluten-free and soy-free options and an allergen-safe environment, Plant Pizza is committed to offering a healthier, indulgent pizza experience.
