Transcending perspectives (includes documentary)

Since 2022, the United States has seen a dramatic rise in anti-transgender legislation.

This year alone, more than 400 bills have been introduced in state houses and senates across the country. These bills include everything from restricting transgender people’s right to prohibiting certain types of healthcare to directly banning their right to publicly identify themselves.

These restrictions — and even just introduction of the legislation actions of these have seriously affected the mental health of transgender youth. Rates of anxiety and depression in the community have skyrocketed.

In this documentary, we look at the effects this wave of bills has had on real-life members of the transgender community in Miami.
