Trump withdraws US from Paris Climate Agreement (includes video story)

For the second time since 2017, President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Agreement, a worldwide pact that aims to limit global warming. This latest move against climate change efforts mirrors recent policies made by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has put up his own fight against what he considers climate alarmism.

Trump made good on his campaign promise, leaving the global treaty that countries can voluntarily opt into to lower carbon emissions. According to him, the agreement puts unneeded stress on the American economy. This decision comes as major wildfires burn through Los Angeles and an unusual polar vortex brings record snowfall to the South, including the Florida panhandle.

Trump also issued an executive order supporting greater energy production, which includes crude oil and natural gas but leaves out renewable sources like wind and solar power.

In 2024, DeSantis signed legislation that stripped the term “climate change” from state law. That same year, back-to-back hurricanes Helene and Milton cost the Sunshine State billions global temperatures were at an all-time high.
