Even while traveling in Scotland, President Donald Trump faced persistent questions regarding his past association with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. In a press conference following a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump distanced himself from Epstein, denying close ties and refuting reports that he had sent Epstein a controversial birthday card featuring a naked woman.
“For years, I wouldn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein,” said Trump. “I wouldn’t talk—because he did something that was inappropriate. I never had the privilege of going to his island, uh, and I did turn it down.”
Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, is seeking to appeal her 20-year sentence for grooming and abusing underage girls. Her attorneys argue she should have been protected by Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement with federal authorities and urges the Supreme Court to hear her case.
When questioned about the possibility of clemency for Maxwell, Trump did not rule it out, stating that while he has the power to grant a pardon, no formal request has been made to him at this time.
