President Donald Trump is threatening to take control of Gaza after previously promising to not escalate any new wars. He has also made statements that he would like to move out the thousands of Palestineans who live there, possibly to Egypt and Jordan.
He appeared on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House – in the first official visit by a foreign leader since the new president’s inauguration. Thjere he said the U.S. would “take over” and “own” Gaza. He said he hoped Palestinians there would “go to other countries.”
Though in recent days his administration has backed away from that position, Palestinians are incensed.
An “Arab Americans for Trump” group even changed its name after the takeover proposal was announced.
