UHealth SoLé Mia Medical Center opens in North Miami (includes video story)

The University of Miami Health System has officially opened the doors to its brand-new UHealth SoLé Mia Medical Center in North Miami.

The seven-story, 363,000-square-foot facility is now the system’s most technologically advanced ambulatory center and the first to feature AI-enabled medical technology. The center welcomed its first patients on Tuesday.

“Solé Mia community benefits from having multidisciplinary academic care right here,” said Lindsay Thornton, an assistant professor for interventional radiology at the University of Miami. “We’re really excited to provide first class care for them.”

This expansion represents a major step for academic medicine in South Florida. The new center houses more than 110 exam rooms, 10 operating rooms, and 33 clinical cancer treatment spaces.

By combining advanced technology with thoughtful design, UHealth aims to provide patients with a seamless and healing experience, while giving doctors and nurses more time to focus directly on care. For the surrounding community, it offers easier access to high-quality medical services that were once farther away.

Beyond its state of the art features, the opening of UHealth SoLé Mia carries symbolic weight for both the health system and the city of North Miami. It signals UHealth’s commitment to making patient health a top priority and investing in the community’s future. As the facility begins to serve more patients, its impact is expected to extend well beyond medicine, reinforcing North Miami’s reputation as a growing hub for innovation and care.
