Undiagnosed attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in women has had a significant and ongoing impact in women’s lives. This is due to a lack of education and research on the symptoms, which differ in men. Additionally, there are many misconceptions and stereotypes about ADHD.
“A lot of people think that we can’t pay attention to anything,” said Nicole Gomez, a college student with the disorder. “But with my specific type of ADHD, I do tend to hyperfixate on certain things.”
Since ADHD affects one’s daily activities, it is crucial that women are diagnosed early so that they receive the proper support and help.
