United States passes one million COVID-19 deaths (includes video story)

The White House on Thursday marked the approaching grim milestone of 1 million U.S. COVID-19 deaths, as it continues fighting the war on this virus.

New data from the Centers for Disease Control show COVID-19 cases caused by an omicron offshoot have nearly doubled over the past 2 weeks – causing more than 40% of new infections in the U.S. last week.
