A peaceful protest held at Doral Central Park brought together hundreds of Venezuelans who demanded freedom and justice for their country. Many participants shared poignant stories, especially those whose family members have been imprisoned by the country’s government.
“It’s painful to see how our country has changed and that our youth are being jailed,” said Ileana Quiles, a Venezuelan in exile.
Local leaders, including Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, supported protesters and emphasized the importance of political change.
“Venezuelans inside the country have done what they could,” said Carla Angola, a Venezuelan journalist. “The fight must continue.”
The event not only served as a reminder that the struggle persists, but also highlighted the unity among the Venezuelan diaspora in South Florida. Participants waved flags and carried signs, calling for justice and the release of political prisoners.
In the protest’s closing moments, hope for a future free from tyranny remained a strong sentiment among the crowd. Many expressed their determination to continue fighting until the country regains its democracy.
