The final night market of the season at the Vizcaya Village celebrated their biggest event of the summer in what they call Summer Bash. The local farmers market transforms the village into an open-air festival filled with local flavor, artisan crafts and adrenaline-pumping live action wrestling from indie promotion, Coastal Championship Wrestling.
Throughout the entire month of June, the market dedicates its purpose to sports and wellness in many dynamic forms while showcasing many local businesses. The village does this gesture annually as they pay homage to the legacy of their founder, James Deering, who was an avid sportsman.
With over 20 vendors in attendance, ranging from handcrafted jewelry and clothing brands to food concessions, the market provided South Florida residents a chance to shop independent creators and support up-and-coming businesses.
Jerry Hugo, a chef and pitmaster of Wholly Smoke Bar-Q, emphasizes that it’s important for community support. It keeps him and other small business owners motivated to continue to work on their crafts.
“It’s rewarding when we’re able to put smiles on people’s faces when they try some amazing food,” said Hugo. “It’s nice [to meet] new people because you never know who you might meet.”
