Dr. Hasaan Rasheed, known for his role as one of the King’s Guards in 2018 Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther,” visited South Florida recently to share his message of perseverance, mental health and mentorship.
He reflected on his unexpected path to Hollywood, which began after a brother encouraged him to audition for the Marvel film. Rasheed said the opportunity allowed him to work alongside actor Chadwick Boseman, whose advice continues to influence him years later. He recalled Boseman encouraged him to remain authentic and continue pursuing the path that had already opened doors for him.
Beyond acting, Rasheed has focused much of his work on mentoring young adults. After helping raise the sons of several close friends, he founded All My God Children Inc. As a nonprofit organization, it provides support, resources and life skills to youth. Rasheed said the experience underscored the need for more mentorship opportunities.
“Helping to raise them is what influenced me to actually start my kids nonprofit programs,” said Rasheed. “Because I saw this being a large problem.”
Today, Rasheed is a motivational speaker, encouraging others to embrace their unique journeys and remain committed to their goals. He said two of the most important lessons he has learned are that success does not follow a single path and that opportunities can come when they are least expected.
