This morning, South Florida woke up to temperatures over 5° above their averages for this time of year. By 10 AM, they were already ranging between the upper 80s to lower 90s. That stifling heat has prompted yet another heat advisory from 11 AM to 7 PM, as heat indices are expected reach 110°.
The tropics are looking calm, with no expected development at any point in the next 7 days. This can be attributed in large part to the Saharan dust moving across the Atlantic. Locally, the dust is already reaching the region, bringing hazy skies as a result.
By this weekend, the heart of that dust will linger overhead before traversing toward the Gulf. On Saturday, the World Cup quarterfinal in Miami Gardens between England and Norway anticipates a high of 91° with a 30% chance of rain.
Looking ahead, the new workweek will essentially be a carbon copy, with each afternoon peaking in the lower 90s, with overnight lows hovering in the lower 80s. Rain chances Monday through Friday will be between 10 to 20%.
