Woman’s family demands justice after she was shot dead near Ocala (includes video story)

A single mother of four, Ajike Owens, was tragically shot and killed by her neighbor near Ocala. Now, her grieving family is calling for justice and demanding that the woman responsible be arrested.

Marion County deputies said in a Monday news conference that Susan Louise Lorincz, 58, fired multiple shots through her front door, killing Owens who was coming to defend her kids.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a dispute between the two neighboring families escalated, ultimately leading to the fatal confrontation. Lorinz was accused of yelling racial slurs towards Owen’s children prior to the shooting. But the shooter claims Owens had been trying to break down her door, causing her to shoot in self-defense.

“My daughter, my grandchildren’s mother, was shot and killed with her 9-year-old son standing next to her,” Owens’ mother said. “She had no weapon, she posed no imminent threat to anyone.”
