A woman was reunited with a hero who saved her from a sinking boat in Port Orange County 41 years ago.
Memory Wilks and her family were involved in a terrible incident when her 17-foot speed boat started sinking and was surrounded by jellyfish. But Doug Ritter, a local man, rescued them.
Wilks believed the U.S. Coast Guard saved them, but found out it was actually Ritter after reading a news article. She later found him through Facebook.
“I’ll never forget him,” Memory Wilks said. “I can’t thank him enough. He’s truly my hero.”
