Wynwood hosts Messi-backed World Crown Soccer Tournament (includes video story)

The 1v1 World Crown Tournament took place Friday Sept. 15 in Wynwood Marketplace, bringing together street-style soccer players from around the world.

Sponsored by Más+ by Messi and hosted by London-based soccer company Top Baller, the event attracted finalists from four cities to compete for a chance to be crowned by Miami FC star Leonel Messi.

Local food vendors and raffle contests offering Messi merchandise added to the festive atmosphere.

Miami’s Melanie Russo took home the win for the women’s division, while Evan Deasy, an 18-year-old from Dublin, got the men’s crown.

“This right here tops everything,” said Manuel Silva, founder and CEO of Top Baller. “I’ve partnered with the greatest football player of all time…Top Baller did it!”
