WSVN honors legendary anchor Robbin Simmons to end Women’s History Month (includes video story)

To end Women’s History Month, Robbin Simmons is being recognized for her work as an anchor and reporter at WSVN. For over a decade, she has been a trusted voice in South Florida, delivering news with speed and accuracy. But as a woman and a person of color, she has faced challenges in the industry.

“There might be fewer opportunities as a woman, and then there might be fewer opportunities than that for a Black woman,” said Simmons. “But I try to let my work speak for itself.”

Despite these obstacles, she has stayed committed to sharing important stories, covering major events around the world and inspiring future journalists.

Her co-anchor, Jack Royer, spoke about their strong connection and how much he respects her work.

“Robbin Simmons is a wonderful person, which makes her a wonderful colleague,” said Royer. “Pretty much from the minute we met each other, I think we both felt comfortable with each other.”

Produced for Heat’d South Florida through the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media, this feature honors Simmons’ passion for journalism and the impact she has made in the industry.
