Miami Sharks rugby loss a heartbreaker (includes video story)

The Miami Sharks were home for the holidays, as they hosted a fierce San Diego Legion team on Easter Sunday after last week’s 30-19 victory over the Houston SaberCats. Miami’s fans packed the stands once again, cheering along and showing their support.

Shark player Rick Rose describes the environment and how it gets the team going. “We come out here and we get a boost to our minds and our bodies and our work ethic when we see the fans… It’s a good rugby atmosphere so we absolutely love it, we feed off it.”

Miami came out swinging early, taking the lead and holding it for most of the match. But it wasn’t enough. Two late tries from the Legion swung the momentum and allowed them to rally from behind, before ultimately overtaking the Sharks with a kick conversion.

San Diego came out on top 22 to 21. The heartbreaking defeat is something the first-year team will have to learn from and take with them into the rest of the season. The Sharks now hit the road for one final game before their bye week. The team will travel to New England to take on the Free Jacks on Saturday, April 6.
