The Caplin News showcases the work of students at Florida International University’s Department of Journalism + Media. Stories come from class assignments and from:
-
- Our Washington, D.C., news bureau.
- The arts and culture magazine Inspicio.
- Our Miami bureau, which is also involved in collaborations with local media including the Miami Herald, Miami Times and Miami Today.
- Newsbreak, our morning news show, which chronicles events both local and world-wide that are significant to South Floridians.
The Network supports the Department of Journalism + Media’s goal to help students master multimedia journalism and storytelling skills through innovative collaborations with faculty and professional partners. The aim is to produce exceptional multiplatform journalists and media professionals, and future thought leaders and entrepreneurs, who will advance innovation in journalism, media, education and industry.
Caplin News also offers links to student work published in PantherNow and broadcast on The Roar radio station (WRGP). These sites are operated by the university’s Student Media organization independently of the Journalism and Media Department.
The Caplin News rigorously works to present all sides of every issue. Its material does not represent the views of Florida International University, its board of trustees, nor the University System of Florida.
