Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis begins his campaign tour (includes video story)

After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced his run for president in 2024, he began a three-state tour.

DeSantis stopped by Iowa and New Hampshire yesterday and will be ending the tour in South Carolina today. He plans on making 12 stops across these three states.

The governor hasn’t wasted any time differentiating himself from leading Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump. When asked by a New Hampshire reporter about Trump claiming he can fulfill his MAGA agenda in six months, DeSantis replied, “Why didn’t he do it in his first four years?”

A CNN poll published on May 24 showed Trump is still receiving a majority of support from Republican voters. DeSantis was asked about the former president in Iowa and responded confidently: “I am going to counter punch. I am going to fight back on it. I’m going to focus my fire on Biden. And I think he should do the same. He gives Biden a free pass. I’m focusing on Biden.”

With former Vice President Mike Pence expected to announce his run for president in 2024, the field is only going to grow more competitive for Florida’s governor.
