Hurricane Idalia unleashes fury on Florida’s Gulf Coast (includes video story)

This morning, around 7:45 a.m., Florida residents near the panhandle experienced the wrath of Hurricane Idalia, as storm surges and intense wind developed all along the Gulf Coast of Florida.

“Storm surges could reach 10 to 15 feet,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis, claiming that it is a life-threatening storm. He also noted that it would be difficult to survive those intense storm surges.

The Mayor of Cedar Key, Heath Davis, also noted the dangers and magnitude of Hurricane Idalia, “We haven’t seen a storm this bad ever.”

Rising waters are turning streets into rivers as many residents from Fort Myers are continuing to rebuild homes and restaurants after Hurricane Ian’s destruction last year.

President Biden has been in constant contact with DeSantis and Davis as the storm continues to pass Florida and parts of Georgia. “We’re going to make sure they have everything they need,” stated the President.
